Making Metallic Hydrogen
Article Abstract:
The Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory two-stage gas gun was used to compress liquid hydrogen to create metallic hydrogen for one millionth of a second. Measurement of the material's electrical conductivity was possible. These results may lead to better means of initiating fusion reactions for energy production.
